Cesc Fabregas is contemplating leaving Chelsea in the January window, according to Sport (h/t Calciomercato).

The Spaniard is unhappy with his lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri, according to the report. The player’s contract is up at the end of the season and could leave on a free.

The report adds that AC Milan are interested in the 31-year-old, since he would cost them nothing in transfer fees. It will be interesting to see if the Italian giants make a move in the winter window, given they need someone quickly, as per the report.

Fabregas has made just one start for Chelsea this season, which came in the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool.

The 31-year-old faces a lot of competition for the midfield slots at the Blues. Maurizio Sarri prefers a trio of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in his starting XI.

Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are others who are trying to get into the Chelsea starting XI too. The Spaniard is still one of the best passers in the game, and it will be interesting to see what the Blues decide to do in the coming months.

We could get a small fee for the player in the winter window but will lose an experienced individual. Fabregas might have a role to play in some of our cup games and will be useful should some starters pick up injuries.
