“We’d definitely have him” – Rival manager wants to sign Chelsea starlet on loan

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock is eyeing a move for Chelsea starlet Ethan Ampadu in the January window.

Chelsea face Cardiff after the international break but Warnock believes the Bluebirds can develop the Welsh youngster into a quality player.

Warnock was quoted by the Mirror saying:

“I think I could help him, and the Premier League would certainly help him.

“It would open his eyes.

“He doesn’t look out of place at this level and I think he should go on loan. We’d definitely have him.”

The 18-year-old looked great for Wales in the international break and Warnock was quick to compare Ampadu to another Welshman who did well for a number of Premier League clubs.

“I thought he was outstanding in that first game for Wales, but a little overpowered in the second one.

“What I like about him is he’s so confident. He’s not dissimilar to Ray Wilkins. Ethan keeps everything moving, a bit like Joe Allen.”

The defensive midfielder looks likely to get a few games in the first-team this season. The Welshman will find it tough to usurp the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. And to that end, sending him out temporarily for regular football makes sense.

The Welshman has to play more to get better and hopefully, we will find the right club for the 18-year-old.

There will be offers to take him in January and we should send him to a Premier League club to gain experience.
