Hazard and Giroud star for Chelsea: Player ratings as the Blues hammer Cardiff City 4-1

Chelsea went to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, after a convincing 4-1 win over Cardiff City.

Things didn’t go as planned when Sol Bamba scored in the first half for the Bluebirds but an Eden Hazard hat-trick, along with a goal from Willian, ensured we won our fifth game on the trot.

The Blues were brilliant in the attack and although we conceded, we hammered the away side and deserved the three points.

Hazard was exceptional and there were a few other stars that did their bit as we match Liverpool with 15 points from 5 games.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7.5/10

The Chelsea keeper wasn’t tested much after conceding the goal. Frankly, Arrizabalaga will not have such easy games in the Premier League this season but he did his job well.

Marcos Alonso – 7.5/10

The Spaniard wasn’t threatened much and played his usual game, charging down the flank and helping the attack.

Antonio Rudiger – 8/10

Rudiger seems rejuvenated under Sarri and even though we had a tough start to the game, the German did a quality job in defence.

David Luiz – 7.5/10

Another player who seems to be enjoying his football at Chelsea, Luiz was a rock at the back even though he didn’t have much to do.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.5/10

The captain was another player that didn’t have a lot of defensive work but was a decent outlet for our attack.

Jorginho – 8/10

It was a bit of a surprise that Jorginho let Hazard take the penalty but it didn’t matter much as the Italian was quality in the middle of the pitch.

N’Golo Kante – 7.5/10

Kante playing in a more advanced role will still take some time getting used to but the Frenchman did a decent job, even though he seems a little out of place.

Mateo Kovacic – 7.5/10

Kovacic had another decent outing for us but we are yet to see the best of the Croatian this season.

Eden Hazard – 10/10

Hazard was pure brilliance as he jinked and jived passed the Cardiff defence. The Belgian scored a couple of brilliant goals before completing his hat-trick from the spot.

Pedro – 7.5/10

The Spaniard did well as he cut inside and was a threat throughout the evening and could have scored a goal too.

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud – 8.5/10

Giroud was exceptional in the attack as he linked well with Hazard and Pedro. The Frenchman had a couple of assists and the only thing missing was a goal.

Substitutes

Ross Barkley – 7/10

Barkley got more than 30 minutes on the pitch and he did a pretty good job in the midfield.

Willian – 7/10

Willian came on late in the game but still had time to score a magnificent goal and win a penalty.

Davide Zappacosta – N/A

The Italian had a shot on goal but missed the target and didn’t have a lot of time to make a mark.
