Three Premier League clubs interested in signing 28-year-old Chelsea flop

Danny Drinkwater

Leicester City are interested in signing Danny Drinkwater in the January transfer window, as per the Express.

The English midfielder hasn’t played a single game this season and only started five Premier League games for us in the previous campaign.

Drinkwater helped the Foxes to the Premier League title in 2016 but he has struggled to make a mark since his move to the Blues a season ago.

The Foxes enquired about the English midfielder in the summer window but could not complete a deal with the Blues, as per the Express.

The report adds that Southampton want to sign Drinkwater on a loan deal in the winter window. Another club keeping tabs on the 28-year-old are West Ham United.

The report claims that the Englishman could leave Stamford Bridge in search of regular football in January.

Drinkwater’s time on the pitch would be limited, given we have N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Cesc Fabregas, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic on the books.

The 28-year-old played in the Community Shield this season which we lost to Manchester City. Drinkwater looked a quality player during Leicester’s title run but just has not been able to replicate that form for Chelsea since his move.

It would be great for his career if he seals a move in the January window as keeping him isn’t going to provide him with a lot of playing time this season.
