N’Golo Kante starred but who flopped for Chelsea? Player ratings from 2-0 win over Bournemouth

Alvaro Morata and Pedro

Chelsea made it four wins out of four under Maurizio Sarri after goals from Pedro and Eden Hazard saw off a spirited Bournemouth side.

The goals came in the second half and ensured we kept pace with Liverpool, who have also secured 12 points. It wasn’t an easy game for us, especially in the first half, as the Cherries had a couple of decent chances.

However, Chelsea had a few decent chances of their own and made it count late in the second half as we head into the international break.

The win also ended Bournemouth’s unbeaten start to the league but the Cherries were quality and could have gone home with a point.

There were a few decent players for us against Eddie Howe’s men and here are the player ratings for the Blues.

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6/10

Kepa didn’t have a lot to do despite Bournemouth having a number of quality chances to score.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10

The Spaniard was his usual self down the right as he often bombarded forward to attack. Azpilicueta’s crossing was a little off today though.

Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10

This was another strong showing from the German as he had a role in the first goal. The centre-back was solid at the back too, keeping Bournemouth in check.

David Luiz – 5/10

Luiz had a poor outing as he was responsible for two of the chances provided to Bournemouth but we were lucky as our opponents could not score.

Marcos Alonso – 7/10

The Spaniard has become an integral member of the side as he helped us score the second goal and did well in the defence.

N’Golo Kante – 8.5/10

Kante proved he can play a more advanced role and he did his tracking back too. A brilliant showing from the Frenchman, as he saved Luiz from a mistake in the first half.

Mateo Kovacic – 6/10

Kovacic wasn’t that great with his final ball but the Croatian put in the miles for the team.

Jorginho – 8/10

The former Napoli man was great in the midfield as he controlled the tempo and passed the ball around with ease.

Willian – 6.5/10

The Brazilian was brilliant in the first half but lost it all in the second. He was taken off for Pedro and that worked out well.

Alvaro Morata – 5.5/10

Morata tried his best in the first half and made some quality runs but could not finish for the Blues. He struggled in the second half and was replaced by Olivier Giroud.

Eden Hazard – 8/10

The Belgian was impressive in the second half as he scored to make the points safe for the side. He wasn’t great in the first half but his goal is all that matters.

Substitutes

Olivier Giroud – 7/10

Giroud must be wondering what he has to do to get a start. Morata wasn’t good today and the Frenchman won a number of headers for us.

Pedro – 7.5/10

Pedro scored an important goal for the Blues and did a great job coming off the bench.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – N/A

The youngster did have a couple of quality runs but not enough time to make a difference.
