“I feel at home with the team now” – Chelsea star wants to win trophies at Stamford Bridge

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley has seen a bit of a revival in his Chelsea career after the arrival of Maurizio Sarri. The former Everton man joined us last season but didn’t impress a lot under Antonio Conte.

Speaking to the Telegraph (h/t Football.london), the English midfielder shared his plans for the season.

“To keep learning. The new manager obviously has a different style to our previous manager. There will be freedom because you have three men in the midfield.

“You can go forward, get close to the box, have shots, try to create but obviously we have to be disciplined and organised without the ball.

“I want to be scoring goals, creating goals and, towards the end of the season, there will hopefully be a prize, with a trophy or a couple of trophies.”

The youngster started in our Community Shield loss to Manchester City but he also started in our 3-0 win over Huddersfield on the opening day of the Premier League.

The former Everton man also spoke about the injury that he carried when he joined us from Everton. Barkley stated that recovering from the muscle tears took time.

“I got myself really fit just to give myself a head start.

“I am really prepared and I feel at home with the team now.”

The 24-year-old only played two Premier League games for us last season but seems to be in great shape under Sarri.

The Englishman could be a surprise package under our new manager as we look to win a trophy and if Barkley plays to his best ability, he could score a lot of goals for us.
