“I am not happy about this situation” – Sarri lets his feelings known after World Cup star’s late arrival

Willian

Maurizio Sarri is unimpressed with Willian after the Chelsea winger returned late for pre-season training.

The manager had asked Willian to return last Friday, according to the Guardian. However, an issue with his passport was the reason for his delay. Even though Willian returned to Cobham for training on Wednesday, Sarri was not happy with the situation.

“I want to speak to Willian before I answer these questions.

“I am not happy about this situation but, before I answer, I would like to speak to him. Is it a strange situation? I think so.”

The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge with Manchester United and Barcelona interested in the services of the 29-year-old. Willian, however, is happy to stay at the Bridge and is not forcing a move away from the club.

The 29-year-old did take part in the World Cup with Brazil and was one of their most impressive players. However, he could not help the side beat Belgium as they were knocked out in the quarter-final.

Willian’s late arrival to the club does have a knock-on effect as he will not be playing in the Community Shield game against Manchester City at the weekend.

The Brazilian should have a big role under Sarri and it will be interesting to see if this episode has an effect on the relationship between the manager and the player.
