Chelsea target reveals why he snubbed Blues to join Serie A giants

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain has moved from Juventus to AC Milan on an initial one-year deal worth £16m, according to Football.london. The report also adds that the deal for the Argentine could be made permanent next year for a fee of £32.1m.

However, the Argentine has spoken about his decision to snub Chelsea and join the Serie A giants. The former Real Madrid striker was quoted by Football.london as saying that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was after him but Milan showed more desire in bringing him to the club.

“I have big respect for Sarri but he was the only one who wanted me at Chelsea.

“Here at Milan everyone wanted me. That’s why I chose Milan. The motivation and conviction they showed at Milan was fundamental.”

Chelsea could be looking for a new striker according to the report, as Alvaro Morata has struggled for consistency since making the move from Real Madrid last season.

The Spaniard managed just 13 goals from 37 games in all competitions for the Blues last term. Morata did not even make it to the Spanish World Cup squad and has been linked with a move to Italy too (h/t The Sun).

Chelsea have made just two signings in Jorginho and Rob Green so far in the summer. And with the transfer window shutting on 9th August, there isn’t a lot of time to conduct any business before the beginning of the season.
