The Birmingham Mail claims that Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to make a couple of signings and is interested in Tammy Abraham.
The report adds that the Chelsea youngster has been a target for the Villa manager all summer and Bruce wants to sign the 20-year-old before August 31.
The report further adds that Villa are looking to sign young players with hopes of making their moves permanent should promotion be achieved.
Although Abraham fits the category of players that Bruce wants at Villa, the report adds that there is interest in the 20-year-old from clubs in Italy and the Netherlands too.
Bruce was quoted by the Birmingham Mail as claiming that signing players from the Premier League is difficult.
The manager added that Villa’s outlook is to work with younger players and a deal could be completed soon.
“Our aim is to make a breakthrough or two in the next week.
“The owners have preached from the start that we want a younger outlook so we can grow and get better. That always takes time.”
Abraham spent last season on loan with Swansea and scored five goals from 31 games for the Welsh side. His best season came with Bristol City a couple of years ago as he bagged 23 goals in 41 games for the Championship side.
It will be interesting to see where Abraham ends up playing his football this season. Villa might be interested in him but a move to another country could also work wonders for his development.
