Chelsea defender close to sealing a move to Italian giants

Chelsea’s Ola Aina is close to sealing a season-long loan deal with Italian club Torino, according to Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old spent last year on loan with Hull City and is expected to be in Turin for a medical, according to the report. The year-long loan deal will also have an option to buy the 21-year-old, according to Sky Sports.

Aina has only made six senior appearances for Chelsea but he played 46 times for Hull last season. The 21-year-old primarily plays as a right-back but can also play in central midfield.

The former England youth international now represents Nigeria and was a part of the 30-man squad for the 2018 World Cup. However, he could not make it to the final 23-man squad that travelled to Russia.

The report from Sky Sports also claims that PSV Eindhoven were interested in the 21-year-old. Aina is open to playing abroad too.

Chelsea cannot sign any players as the Premier League transfer window is closed but most of the other European leagues can still bring players in.

Aina did play a few games for us a couple of years ago but it seems he would not be getting a lot of game time this season. A move away would ensure he gets regular football.
