Chelsea interested in signing World Cup winner as Sarri plans to give a central role to the attacker

Nabil Fekir could end up signing for Chelsea, according to France Football (h/t Express). The report claims that the Blues are interested in bringing the 25-year-old World Cup winner to Stamford Bridge as Maurizio Sarri is willing to give him a central role at Chelsea.

There is one major hiccup in the deal though, as the report claims that Chelsea cannot offer Champions League football this season.

The report from France Football (h/t Express) also claims that Chelsea have the means to ensure Fekir joins the Blues.

Fekir also added some fuel to the fire regarding his future as he was quoted by Lyon’s TV station (h/t Express) as saying:

“As you can see, I am in Lyon. I am very happy here.

“But the transfer window [in France] is still long and everything goes very quickly in football. We don’t know what will happen in the future but I am very happy at Lyon. I feel brilliant in this squad.”

The Blues haven’t bought many players in the off-season, with Jorginho and Rob Green being the only newcomers to the side.

If we are to sign Fekir, it would be a major statement of intent and the Frenchman could turn out to be the star turn for Maurizio Sarri.
