Napoli’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti is interested in signing Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to the Mirror. The 31-year-old centre-back is surplus to requirements at Chelsea after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte. Even with Maurizio Sarri expected to take over at the club replacing Conte, Chelsea still are willing to sell him.
Luiz played just 15 games for us in all competitions last season and he earns close to £120,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian defender has also reportedly turned down interest from Porto as he had played for their rivals Benfica.
The former PSG man was re-signed by the Blues in a £34million deal a couple of years ago and he’s picked up the Premier League title and the FA Cup too.
With Luiz on the final year of his contract, it would make sense for us to sell him now rather than keep him and lose him for free next season.
If Ancelotti is really willing to do proper business with us, we could ask Napoli to negotiate the sale of a few players too or engage them in a swap deal for Luiz.
The Brazilian can still come good in the slower Italian league and at 31, he still has a few years of quality football left in him.

Losing Luiz might seem like a blow but if Sarri can bring in another defender to shore up the back, we won’t actually be missing the Brazilian defender a lot next season.
