Chelsea are after Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan should Thibaut Courtois move away from Chelsea. Corrierre dello Sport (h/t The Sun) claims that the 19-year-old Donnarumma is the top choice to replace the Belgian Courtois.
The Chelsea keeper has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and had even spoken about missing his family, who are based in the Spanish capital.
Courtois had spent a few years on loan at Atletico Madrid and Real have been looking for a quality keeper to add to their side.
The report also claims that any decision on transfers at Stamford Bridge can only take place once we finalise who our manager will be next season. Antonio Conte is expected to leave the club, with Maurizio Sarri of Napoli coming into the team.
However, if we are thinking about replacing the Belgian keeper in the side, Donnarumma would not be a bad option given that he is just 19 and would only get better playing in one of the best leagues in the world.
AC Milan have their own problems as they would not be playing in Europe next season due to a ban and even though we aren’t in the Champions League, we can offer the keeper an attraction of the Europa League.
Courtois is one of the best keepers in the Premier League and replacing him with someone who has the potential to become one of the best ever is a deal that doesn’t look too bad but ideally, we should not be looking to replace someone like Courtois, who is an important member of the team.
