Napoli look to get one over Maurizio Sarri by signing Chelsea star

Napoli are interested in making a move for Chelsea star Olivier Giroud according to TMW (h/t Daily Star).

The French attacker only joined the Blues from Arsenal in the winter window and his deal is set to expire come the end of the 2018/19 season.

Giroud did help France win the World Cup and the report claims that Napoli were impressed by the performances of the 31-year-old. The Frenchman did help us win the FA Cup last season and has been linked with a move away from the Bridge as Maurizio Sarri plans to make a few changes.

There still is some bad blood between Sarri and his former club as he brought Jorginho from Naples to London.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis then had a right old go at Sarri by claiming that the Italian wanted to dismantle the club by signing a few more players from Napoli.

We might find it tough now to sign more players from Napoli but it will be interesting to see what the club does when it comes to signing Giroud.

The report also adds that the Serie A club would wait until the latter stages of the transfer window before deciding to make a move for the striker.

It would be great to keep hold of Giroud as he provides us with another option in the attack should things not go right for us.

However, if we can somehow get a crazy amount for the 31-year-old, certainly more than the £18m we paid for him last season, it might make sense to sell him and make a profit while we can.
