“Unapproachable”: Club chief pours cold water on Chelsea’s defender pursuit

Chelsea’s plans of signing Kalidou Koulibaly might be scuppered as Napoli are not willing to sell the Senegal international, according to The Express.

The star defender has been earmarked as one of the players that Maurizio Sarri wants at Chelsea if he takes over but Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated that none of his players can quit the Serie A side in the summer.

“Not just one!,” De Laurentiis was quoted by The Express.

“Koulibaly is unapproachable and with him also [Piotr] Zielinski and with them [Marko] Rog.”

De Laurentiis is a tough nut to crack and if he’s made up his mind to not sell Koulibaly, it will be difficult to even think about bidding for the defender.

While the Napoli star is with the national side for the World Cup, we are still in the doldrums regarding the future of our manager and once that is cleared up, it will be easier for us to sign players.

The Napoli chief might just be a little upset with the fact that we are in the race to sign Sarri as the Serie A club have already brought in Carlo Ancelotti to lead the side next season.

The comment could also be a way to ensure the club gets the highest value for the player. Koulibaly helped Napoli finish 2nd in the Serie A last season and the 26-year-old was one of the top players in Italy last time around.

It will be interesting to see what else De Laurentiis has to say about the Napoli players being linked with a move to the Bridge and hopefully, we can sign a couple of them without having to spend big money.
