Club wants €25million for Chelsea target who is wanted by Arsenal too

Aleksandr Golovin

The World Cup in Russia has seen one player’s stock already rise more, as a number of clubs are interested in Aleksandr Golovin of CSKA Moscow.

A report from Football.london claims that Chelsea want to sign the 22-year-old Russian, as he scored one and created two goals in the 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the first game of the World Cup. The club wants €25million for the youngster.

Golovin, who can play either in the midfield or in the attack, certainly has a number of suitors for him as the report also adds that Premier League rivals Arsenal, French club Monaco and Italian champions Juventus want to sign the 22-year-old.

The Italians lead the race for the highly-rated youngster but Golovin has stated that he is concentrating on the World Cup for now.

“I am honoured and pleased by interest from Juventus, but I want to have a great World Cup.”

Golovin scored 7 goals for the Russian side this season and even provided 4 assists from the middle of the park in most cases.

The 22-year-old can certainly add quality to our side and for €25million, he would be a steal in this market. However, dealing with the likes of Juventus will always be a tough proposition as the Italians can more or less guarantee a league medal to a player.

The other issue is regarding the future of our manager and we might only be able to bring in players once we are sure of who our manager would be next season.

Golovin can certainly ensure a move away from Russia if he keeps performing like he did in the first game of the competition.

Should he help Russia to the knockout stages or even take them to the semis, his price will increase and a bidding war could well take place for the 22-year-old.
