“Paris is home”: Chelsea’s French superstar opens up on his love for home amidst PSG rumours

A last-gasp FA Cup win may have salvaged what was an otherwise lacklustre season for Chelsea last term but the fact is that we finished outside the top-four, meaning we won’t get to play in the Champions League for a whole year.

There are several areas of concern in our team since we are in dire need of a squad overhaul. For now, there is a certain sense of ambiguity surrounding manager Antonio Conte’s future as well, following a dreadful campaign in the Premier League.

Despite being the defending champions, we finished a whopping 30 points behind newly-crowned champions Manchester City.

However, amidst all the doom and gloom, one player shone for us through all the highs and lows. In fact, he has been a solid performer for us ever since he arrived at Stamford Bridge from Leicester City. N’golo Kante was arguably our most consistent player last season.

Even as his teammates crumbled around him, Kante soldiered on and delivered some fantastic displays in the middle of the park. It goes without saying that a player like him will attract attention from different clubs and a report from Daily Star has labelled him a Paris Saint-Germain target.

The same report has also published an interview by the Frenchman where he spoke of his love for his homeland.

“For me London will always be different because Paris is home, I was born there, I’m from there, I can speak French there,” said Kante. “But they are both great capitals where you can find everything you need.”
Before we ring the alarm bells in the Chelsea camp, the report also put out an earlier interview from Kante in March where he reaffirmed his commitment to the Blues.
“It is my club, I am a Chelsea player. This is my second year at Chelsea.”
It is comforting to know that Kante considers himself as a Chelsea player. One can understand the connection with his hometown but for now, let’s hope he stays with us on a long-term basis.
