Antonio Conte has already made contact with Bayern Munich with a view to sign £31m midfielder

Chelsea are keen on signing players in January and have made a list of possible targets. Antonio Conte has named the players he wants and the board are now in talks to get the deals done.

According to Bild, the Blues have contacted Bayern Munich with a view to bringing Arturo Vidal to Stamford Bridge this month. The Chile international is now said to be the No.1 midfield target for the reigning English champions, with Conte interested in beefing up the squad.

Conte and Vidal worked together at Juventus and the midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea for some time. The midfielder won four Serie A titles with Juventus before joining Bayern in the summer of 2015 and has landed back-to-back Bundesliga crowns since arriving in the German top flight.

The 30-year-old will see his contract with Bayern expire at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, and it is understood that the German giants would be prepared to sell him for the right price during the January transfer window. The Chile international’s time at the Allianz Arena appears to be drawing to a close, with Bayern reportedly closing in on the signing of Leon Goretzka from Schalke.

Bild say Chelsea have promised Vidal that his salary will be doubled should he make the move to the Premier League. The Blues are reportedly confident of landing their man for just £31million. Vidal was previously linked with a move to Manchester United but Chelsea are now best-placed to sign the midfielder.

There is no doubt Vidal has proven himself worthy of his hefty price tag during his time with the Bavarian giants and would become the driving force in the Chelsea midfield.

We have Cesc Fabregas, N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko as our midfield options at the club but Conte wants more signings to make the team even stronger to compete in the FA Cup as well as Champions League.

The 30-year-old would definitely bring energy and spark to the Chelsea midfield, and it is believed that the Chilean wants to play in England before hanging up his boots.
