Chelsea Turn Their Attention Towards €70 million Goal Machine From Bundesliga After Failing To Sign Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku’s transfer to Manchester United has surprised many in Manchester but shocked everyone in London. All through the summer, Chelsea were supposed to be in driving seat for this deal.

All that is history now as the failed signing of Lukaku highlights the frustrations of Antonio Conte. And just like the dragged chase (Source: Express) of Alvaro Morata led United to Lukaku, reports now indicate that Chelsea are looking towards signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Borussia Dortmund goal machine has been one of the consistent performers in the German Bundesliga and has long been linked with a transfer move out of the club.

Marca reports that the Gabonese International has a price tag of around €70 million which the Londoners are ready to fork out. Also in the race are the French Champions Paris Saint-Germain.

It is an interesting turn of events because the revolving carousel of forwards now puts Chelsea in the door steps of Morata and Aubameyang. Signing Morata is a difficult job to pull off as Real Madrid are a tough nut to crack when it comes to transfer negotiations.

That was, in fact, one of the reasons that drove United towards Lukaku causing Conte the heartburn. Having already lost one of his prime targets due to delay in negotiations, the Italian coach may not want the club to miss out on Aubameyang.

The Gabonese star is a consistent goal scorer who often competes with Robert Lewandowski in Germany. Last season saw him enjoy another impressive return, with 40 goals and five assists in all competitions.

Aubameyang currently has three years remaining on his contract with Dortmund which puts the club in driving seat in the negotiations.

There have always been doubts on players coming from other leagues if they can adapt to the pace of Premier League. To his credit, Aubameyang has all the tools to be a hit in England. With Chelsea desperate for a leader in the final third as Diego Costa remains sulking, this could be an association made for each other.

Will Aubameyang turn Blue for the next season?
