26 Goals Chelsea Starlet Close To Joining Newcastle United – Deal To Be Completed This Week

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is reportedly close to joining Newcastle United on loan. The Chelsea academy product was sent out on loan to Bristol City last season and he impressed. This seems to have caught the eye of Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez, who managed to get his team up to the Premier League by winning the EFL Championship.

Obviously, the former Liverpool manager would have had a close eye on the young starlet and the fact that he is looking to take the striker on loan to Newcastle shows the quality player that Tammy Abraham is.

So the news is that Tammy Abraham is wanted on loan by Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez, according to Daily Mail.

Tammy made 48 appearances in all competitions for Bristol City, scoring 26 goals along the way. 23 of those came in the EFL Championship and is now viewed as one of the hottest prospects in English football. He finished as the 3rd highest goal getter in the Championship behind only Chris Wood (27 goals) and Glenn Murray (23 goals).

The fact that Bristol finished 17th in the table shows what kind of team Tammy was a part of and if the 19-year old is able to score so much for a bottom placed side in the Championship, he is certainly capable of playing in the Premier League – no doubt!

The report claims that Chelsea initially wanted Abraham to be promoted to their first-team squad, but owing to Benitez’s close relationship with the Blues’ technical director Michael Emenalo, Newcastle have secured a loan deal for the forward. Leicester and Brighton were keen to sign the 19-year-old.

The report also clearly stated that Chelsea don’t want to lose the England Under-21 international permanently. They rather seem to recognise that a season of starting in the Premier League is necessary for his development. The deal is expected to be tied up this weekend.

Tammy will hugely benefit by playing for this current Newcastle United side, who seem to be a decent unit under Rafael Benitez. A season of Premier League experience will do a world of good to the player.

If he does settle quickly in the Premier League, then we have a genuine superstar for the future in our hands.
