According to the reports from the Express Sports, Chelsea could make a bid for Manchester United outcast Matteo Darmian.
The 26-year-old Italian international is currently the second choice fullback for Jose Mourinho as both Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia have cemented their place. Also, he hasn’t played a single minute in any competitive game for the side since the Portuguese succeeded former boss Louis van Gaal in May.
And now, according to the reports, the 26-year-old has attracted interest from a number top European clubs including Juventus, Napoli and most recently, Chelsea. The Italian gaffer Antonio Conte is keen to bring Darmian to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens in January and Ivanovic has failed to prove his worth, the move might happen.
Matteo Darmian joined United last summer from the Serie A side Torino for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £12.7 million on a four-year contract.
Last season Darmian made 39 appearances and he made a bright start – helping the club win five of their first seven league games – but a 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in November sparked a huge dip in form.
The 26-year-old has struggled to get back to his best ever since and reports in Italy have suggested that the defender’s relationship with Mourinho is at an all-time low. Reports earlier in the summer suggested Barcelona had been targeting 26-year-old Darmian as a replacement for the Juventus-bound Dani Alves.
