Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji has signed for Sunderland, the club have confirmed.
The player joined Chelsea last summer in a £2.7m transfer deal from FC Nantes ,however, he made only one appearance for the Blues as a substitute in the 89th minute of Capital One Cup win against Walsall.
Djilobodji is Sunderland manager David Moyes’ first signing for the summer in a fee reported to be around £8m.
The player moved to Werder Bremen in January on a loan deal and stayed at the club till the end of the 2015-2016 campaign.
The player who can play both as central midfielder as well as defensive midfielder had moved to the Blues on a four-year deal and now he will be heading out of the Blues after a fruitful season at Werder Bremen. The Senegal international helped the club secure Bundesliga football for the next season.
