Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has set his sights on Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly since some time now and according to reports the Blues are set to table a bid for the player’s move to the Bridge.
The 25-year-old has been in excellent form last season making 33 appearances for Napoli helping the club finish runners-up to domestic rivals Juventus.
According to the reports from the Daily Mirror, the Blues are planning on a renewed bid of £40m which is an addition of £2m to their previous bid of £38m for the Senegalese international.
Chelsea have already brought in two players in the squad, Michy Batshuayi, and N’Golo Kante the deal worth more than £65m and now the Blues manager seems to be charging onto another spending spree as he prepares a squad strong enough to challenge the Premier League title next season.
While Napoli are not under pressure to sell Koulibaly having recently let go of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus in a deal worth £75m, they are reportedly looking for a replacement for Koulibaly as Maurizio Sarri, manager of Napoli, has tabled a £22m bid for Torino defender Nikola Maksimovic . The same has surely given a boost to Chelsea’s pursuit of the player.
