Chelsea boss Antonio Conte chased Romelu Lukaku entire summer so as to acquire the player’s signature, however having failed to do the same the Blues manager has now turned to Juventus hitman Mario Mandzukic.
Having being snubbed by Lukaku who decided to sign a new contract at Everton and stay put at the Merseyside, the Blues manager is now hot in the pursuit of Mandzukic. Further, the Chelsea may be able to sign the player in just £25m which is just over one-third of the £68m that they were ready to pay Everton for Lukaku.
The Croatia International joined Juventus only last summer in a £16m deal from Atletico Madrid and so far has 13 goals to his credit in 36 appearances.
Although, so far it is not known whether the player is keen on a move out of Juventus, however, if he joins Chelsea, he will be the Blues third choice striker after Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi.
