It has been a while since Belgian player Axel Witsel has been linked with Chelsea. Chelsea joined the race to sign the player since some time now and hence have been competing against Everton fro the player’s signature.

Earlier reports suggested that Everton are in the lead position to sign the player, however according to the recent reports by the Telegraph, Chelsea are ahead in the race to sign the player leaving behind Everton, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli.

Witsel is one of the highly rated players and since moving into Zenit St Petersburg four seasons ago, the player has impressed one and all with his displays. A versatile player who can play as a central midfielder, he is the kind of player Chelsea need in the squad.

Witsel’s move into Chelsea will reduce the pressure that the Blues are currently undergoing in the race to sign more proven and quality players. As such Chelsea have already completed the signing of Michy Batshuayi and there are various players the likes of Alvaro Morata  linked with the Blues.
