Why Chelsea Should Make A Move For This Young Argentine Striker?

Premier League next year will be even more star studded affair with elite managers arriving in the summer. Along with Antonio Conte at Chelsea, Guardiola will take the reigns at City while Mourinho seems to be the man replacing LVG. Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino and Wenger complete the top class list and it will be a glorious battle between the top footballing brains to emerge at the top. Also with the TV rights money, the likes of West Ham and Southampton have begun to challenge for a place in the top 6.

With realistically no European competition next year, it will be a tough task to bring new faces to the squad. But it could act as a boon like it did for Leicester and Liverpool in the 13-14 season. The squad needs a total revamp with many positions needed to be upgraded and many players to be offloaded. Budget would not be an issue for Conte at the Bridge, but the targets need to be identified quickly and along with big signings, sone shrewd signings can work in the blues way.

One position that needs an upgrade is in the striking department with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy set to be offloaded. With only Costa being the recognised striker, a new forward is a need of the hour to share some responsibility from the Spaniard. With his expertise in the Italian League, the new manager will look for the new additions in Italy and the one talent which has shone for the Nerazzuri is the 23 year old, Mauro Icardi.

Icardi has been a revelation from last season and was the joint top scorer with 22 goals last campaign along with Luca Toni. He was rumoured to be a target for Real Madrid in the summer of 2015 but it was just a speculation and more was expected from the Italian in the current season. But with the new management of Roberto Mancini at Inter, the style of play changed and Icardi was denied the service that was needed for him.

He was on the bench for some time during Christmas but with the new year, Icardi came back with a bang. He has scored 15 goals in a substandard season for Inter and remains a top striker in Italy. Icardi has spoken about favouring a move to England and expressed his desire to play in the most competitive league in the world. The 23 year old doesn’t have express pace nor he has a strong presence, his game is based in the 18 yard box and is a typical poacher kind of a striker.

He does not contribute a lot defensively, but is a threatening presence in the opponents box. He makes some smart runs and is always present at the right place at the right time. Chelsea lack a striker of such qualities and is just the kind of player that can solve the attacking problem that the blues face. Icardi is a player of Chicharito mould and with his best years yet to come, Stamford Bridge is a perfect opportunity and the Conte factor makes it more favourable for the blues to sign the talented striker.
