As per Gazzetta dello Sport (Cited by Daily Express) Chelsea has made a bid £30 million for Gianluigi Donnarumma of AC Milan. The 17 year old goalkeeper has impressed this season and several big European clubs have taken notice.
As per the reports Mino Raiola, Donnarumma’s agent was asked about the bid from Chelsea and has clarified that he has not heard anything about it and if at all a bid has come then so far it has reached AC Milan only and not the agent or the player. He also mentioned that the amount sounds justified as Donnarumma would fetch a fee in the proximity of £30 million.
“For me it proves nothing, if there was a similar offer it was evidently presented to Milan,” Raiola told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“But I don’t know anything about this story. But if it’s true that there’s an offer of €38m (£30m), well I’d invest that money in signing Gigione.”
AC Milan are in a huge debt of over £90 million and are looking to cash in on their prized goalkeeper in order to reduce the debt. While the club’s valuation of the player is over £100 million they are willing to let him go at a fraction of that price. Chelsea seems to have taken this opportunity but will face competition from other clubs in the process.
