Pied de Visser, the chief scout of Chelsea has confirmed the club’s pursuit of 17-year-old wonderkid Rick van Drongelen. The Dutch youngster has only played one game for his current club but his performance has caused several clubs to take notice on the youngster including Manchester United.
With the prices of players rising every season at transfer market, many big clubs are strategically purchasing players at earlier stage with the intention to develop them. This has caused the lesser known leagues to be a hot scouting ground for the clubs and same phenomenon seems to be occurring at Eredivise.
The scouts were seen at the game where Sparta Rotterdam, the player’s team was playing and from De Visser’s record Chelsea have been following the player for some time now. The chief scout told the Dutch publication Omroep Zeeland that he has filed a report on the player and thinks that Drongelen is a serious player who works hard.
