Chelsea captain John Terry is only a win away to become only the 4th player to win 300 Premier League games, the other 3 being Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard. Having already etched his name in the Chelsea folklore with his brilliant performances time and again, Terry’s pursuit of the record could be kept on hold for a few weeks due to Chelsea’s wretched form.
In light of the event, Terry has come out and revealed that a deal was struck between his current employers and Huddersfield Town in 2000. However, the price offered by Huddersfield and Terry’s rapid rise ensured that he did not have to make the move.
“Chelsea wanted to sell me then. They had agreed a deal with Huddersfield. After my loan at Forest, I was supposed to go to Huddersfield,” Terry said. With Chelsea’s defence in shatters at times, John Terry has come under immense criticism as it finally looks like age might be finally catching up on the 34-year-old. With his contract set to expire in the coming June, Jose Mourinho might be forced to let him leave in favour of the younger guns.
