It looks like Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez has now reignited his war of words with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, with his latest comments about the Chelsea boss. The two managers have been involved in an intense rivalry with each other in the past.
Speaking to Spanish radio station La Cope, he gave his opinions about former Real Madrid managers. About Manuel Pellegrini, he said: “A great coach and a great person. I have a good relationship with him and he is great as a manager and a person.”
Talking about Carlo Ancelotti, “Carlo is a friend and he is a good coach and a good person.”
Further, when asked about Mourinho, Benitez joked: “Let’s just leave it there. A great coach… and there we will leave it.” The reporter further asked, “And you are not going to say ‘good person’?”, to which Benitez replied, “I am free to have my own opinion am I not?”
When asked about Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, he added, “I never had a problem with him. We won the last European trophy that Chelsea has won and got them into the Champions League.”
In other news, Chelsea’s Numero Uno striker Diego Costa has come out and claimed that he has been unfit since the start of the season and has asked his fellow teammates to take the blame for Chelsea’s sluggish start to the season.
Costa has been striking blanks for several games now contributing to Chelsea’s worst start to a campaign in 37 years and certainly Mourinho’s worst in his illustrious managerial career.
The striker has been omitted by Spain boss Del Bosque for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Luxembourg and Ukraine and took the chance to support Mourinho, accepting the culprits for the team’s start have been the players. “We know we’re not in the form we were supposed to be at the beginning of the season,” he said. “We need to blame the players because we came back from holiday very confident, thinking we could go back into how it was last season, and then realised the team was already in a bad situation.
