However, while there has been a lot of buzz around the sale of David Luiz for an extraordinary amount of money, the Blues could be close to pocketing another £25 million by selling Ramires to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are planning a move for the Brazilian to bolster their midfield options, according to the Mirror.
Given the midfield options that Madrid already have, it seems ridiculous that they’d go after more midfielders and for the price reported when they could be putting all their efforts in signing Luis Suarez. In my opinion, if Real are offering £25 million for Ramires, Jose Mourinho should just take the money and run because there’s absolutely no way he’s worth that amount.
Don’t get me wrong, I think Ramires is a good player. He has an unbelievable amount of stamina, but also has a lot of talent on the ball. However, he’s certainly not worth anything above £20 million. There are better options out there and for less money, besides the Brazilian is often guilty of losing concentration at key times in a game. Dangerous tackles are his usual meltdown moments.
In addition to this, and linking in with my previous point, there are better options out there for Madrid and for much less. Even for Chelsea, if they were to cash in on him, they’d get enough money to do more than just replace him. A stupid decision by Madrid, but a very smart one by Chelsea should any deal be struck.
Don’t forget the midfielders Carlo Ancelotti already has; Asier Illaramendi, Sami Khedira, Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric and Casemiro. All fantastic players that are arguably better than Ramires.
