Don’t Get Rid Of Oscar!

The World Cup is under now under a couple of weeks away and the excitement is growing with each passing day. Friendlies and rumours keeping us thoroughly entertained while we wait. But, for some players, the thought of featuring in the World Cup has gone to their head and actually experienced dips in form. Unfortunately for Chelsea, Oscar could have fell victim to this.

Goal claim that a potential reason behind Oscar’s dip in form, half way through the season, is because of his emotional attachment with the World Cup hosted by Brazil. The fact that he has a chance to represent his own nation on his native soil could have quite overwhelming for the player. Something not many can say they’ve done. However, Goal have also suggested that Jose Mourinho is growing impatient with the midfielder and this has prompted the club to listen for offers for the 23-year-old.

However, I don’t think the Chelsea boss should be so hasty in selling the samba star. He did have a fantastic first half to the season and proved why he can become one of the best in the league. For a time, he was probably the best midfielder in the league. Perhaps second to Aaron Ramsey.

He’s really growing into the English game and has seemingly settled in very well. Critics assumed his small frame wouldn’t survive in the Premier League, but it certainly has and even he is bullying the ‘hard-as-nails’ midfielders.

Yet he’s still demonstrated the stereotypical Brazilian flair on many occasions. Whether it be a cheeky trick, inch-perfect pass or smart finish, he’s shown it this season. This has resulted in him playing a variety of positions. Attacking midfield, right midfield, central midfield and even sitting in between the defence and midfield. His composure on the ball has allowed him to play in that disciplined defensive midfield role and his extraordinary engine has allowed him to play in that box-to-box role.

He’s a brilliant player and I know he can prove Mourinho wrong and become one of the best in the league.
