Chelsea Should Let Go Of African Star

I’ve talked an awful lot about the strikers at Chelsea in the past few days. Criticising them all, but discussing each and every rumour that links them away from the club. For players like Romelu Lukaku and Samuel Eto’o, I have been quite generous towards them as I wouldn’t mind them staying. However, a big money striker must be brought in though.

Demba Ba isn’t a player I’ve really talked about yet. He’s just been included on my list of players that should leave in the summer, but I haven’t really given a reason. Well that changes now. SkySports are reporting that Demba Ba wants and expects to stay at Chelsea next season amid rumours that he’s set to move away from Stamford Bridge. In my opinion, the Blues should let him go.

Ba has proven in the past that he is a player that can score on a regular basis. At Newcastle he certainly did, all the way up to his move eventual move to London in January 2013. Since then, he hasn’t found the net on a regular enough basis and I think that’s down to his style not fitting in with Chelsea’s.

He’s a striker that likes to hang around in the penalty box and act as a more of a poacher than a striker that has to work hard for his team. I feel he has worked hard, but he’s had to sacrifice his style to accommodate it. He’s not the counter-attacking player that Jose Mourinho needs from his players.

The other problem with Ba is that he’s simply not good enough to lead Chelsea into a new chapter in their story. He can score goals, but he’s quite limited in truth. If Chelsea are to succeed I think they need an arrogant, creative and hard working player. Like Luis Suarez.
