1. Max Kruse
The Monchengladbach main man has been in fantastic form this season, so good that it has earned him a call up to the German national team. Eight goals and six assists in 15 appearances is very good. He doesn’t have the pedigree of some of the players on this list but could still fire Chelsea to the title.
2. Diego Costa
Costa was once called nastiest striker in the La Liga because of his antics in the game. However, this season he’s been an absolute revelation and is now regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe. He has 20 appearances this season in all competitions, 19 goals and two assists.
3. Giuseppe Rossi
Some may question his inclusion on this list because of his injury record, one which kept him out for near on two seasons, but the player has returned with a bang. The Italian has found the net on 12 occasions this season in just 15 appearances.
4. Karim Benzema
The Frenchman has faced a lot of criticism ever since Euro 2012 when he was labelled as ‘slow’, ‘lacking any passion’, ‘inconsistent’ and ‘a poor finisher’. So, I bet you’re thinking why would I include him on the list? Well, he’s responded to the criticism well and has fired in eight times in La Liga, but he’s also claimed five assists which shows that he’s a very good team player.
5. Alvaro Morata
If this player is up for grabs in January, it’ll only be for a loan deal because Morata is a special talent that can score goals when given the chance. He also has the ability to create his own chances through movement and skill. The Spaniard is a quality player that Chelsea should take a gamble on, especially as he is a cheap and available option.
6. Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski is the most obvious player to be on this list based on his future and what’s been said about it. Mourinho would be mad to pass up on him because, yet again, he’s having an incredible season, having scored 11 goals and claimed six assists in the Bundesliga so far.
7. Jackson Martinez
The FC Porto striker is another player in fine form this season and, like Lewandowski, has come off the back of an amazing season. Martinez seems to combine all the key attributes of a modern day striker into one. He has pace, strength, skill, finishing abilities, good in the air, good positionally and can create something out of nothing. Allthough he wouldn’t be cheap, he would be worth it.
8. Seydou Doumbia
This is a name that was tossed around in papers a while ago as being the next big thing in Europe. However, fast forward to the present day and you’ll find Doumbia is out of the limelight, yet still scoring goals for fun. He currently has nine goals and five assists in 11 appearances.
9. Burak Yilmaz
The Turkish international has been a key player for Fenerbahce over the years because of the amount of goals he gets. His tally so far this season is seven, which is very good. Throw in the fact that he also has five assists and you have a top player just waiting to be picked up.
10. Wayne Rooney
It’s always going to be difficult trying to sign a player from a rival team, and if he’s a key player then you don’t stand much of a chance. However, Chelsea will hope that Manchester United’s current form will force Rooney to leave. Well, that’s how it works nowadays isn’t it?
