1) Robert Lewandowski – Borussia Dortmund
The Poland international has excited us all for a few years now as he continues to light up the European stage. With 36 goals last season and nine in nine this, the 25-year-old is at the very top of his game, which makes it hard to believe that he is available on a free come the end of the season.
Although he is widely expected to join Bayern Munich, he has denied any discussions and is apparently open to offers.
2) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United
Rooney’s wish to be played up top has been granted by new boss David Moyes and we are starting to see what he can do again. He has scored four goals in his eight Premier League games and reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho will offer the club big money for his services.
Rooney has the presence, the technique and the hunger to drive the Blues to the title.
3) Jackson Martinez – Porto
A strong, bustling powerhouse of a defender, Martinez has ensured his name is mentioned around Europe with 34 goals in 43 games last season and nine in 10 goals this. The Colombian is an out and out goal-scorer.
4) Karim Benzema – Real Madrid
The France international is having a tough time in the Spanish capital of late and has been the subject of abuse from his own fans. However, with a new start at a new club in a new country he could revert to his old goal-getting ways.
5) Diego Costa – Atletico Madrid
Since his move to Atli last year, Costa has been brilliant. He scored 20 goals in 44 games last season and grabbed 13 in 13 this time round. He has the power and the coolness to lead the Chelsea frontline.
