It remains uncertain whether this will be a permanent or loan move, although a loan deal does seem the most likely with Bayer Leverkusen keen to acquire him as part of the deal for Andre Schurrle although Borussa Dortmund are also keen on his services. There will be some who would like to see the player given a chance at the Bridge particularly given that during his current loan spell at Werder Bremen he has contributed a more than handy eight league goals and nine assists, although given their already strong creative resources Chelsea might feel that sacrificing de Bruyne is a risk worth taking to bringing in the highly rated Schurrle, particularly given their current striker woe.
For de Bruyne this hardly sends a message of love and he must be wondering if he is ever likely to set foot on the Stamford Bridge turf, further to that he must be wondering what he has to do to force his way into the first team squad given his impressive form in Germany. Along with this de Bruyne is 22 in June and with that in mind he will be starting to question whether he has at a future at the club and given the way he has been managed it seems unlikely he will be enthralled by his experiences.
Belgium talent is without question one of the strongest growing forces in English football, however it seems that Chelsea look set to again pack on the most highly rated players of this young generation across the continent as a makeweight.
