Chelsea are 3.4 shots with
bet365 and
Boylesports to beat Liverpool for the second time in four days at Anfield tonight.
The Blues enhanced their excellent Wembley record when beating Kenny Dalglish’s side 2-1 in the FA Cup final on Saturday, and although all their focus will now be on the Champions league final they still have an outside chance of a top four finish in the Premiership.
Victory here followed by another against Blackburn on Sunday would put them on 67 points, and with Arsenal facing a tough trip to West Brom, Spurs hosting an in-form Fulham and Newcastle set to travel to Everton, that total may be enough.
As far as the stats are concerned, Liverpool have won five of the last seven Premier League meetings between the teams – including the last three in a row.
However their form at home this season has been woeful, and they have scored just once in their last three against West Brom, Aston Villa and Fulham.
That makes them look vulnerable and especially as they have nothing left to play for except pride.
Of course they will be out for revenge having felt hard done by in the FA Cup final when Andy Carroll’s effort was judged not to have crossed the line.
But in truth they were by far the inferior side until the big man came on, and there is little doubt in my mind that an on-song Chelsea will be able to beat them again.
The one worrying fact is that they have failed to score in 5 of their last 8 PL games against the Reds.
But given that the home side also lack any real cutting edge in front of the jam sticks, one goal could be enough to clinch this and Chelsea have by far the best equipped front line to get it.
Droga and Torres have both been priced up at a standout 8 with
Paddy Power to net the opener, and depending which one makes the starting XI that’s where my cash will be going.
Chelsea to win 1-0 is my idea of the outcome, and that is a 12 chance with
bet365.
