Chelsea are considering making a move for Napoli’s talented Christian Maggio.
The London club are thought to be ready to offer £17m for Maggio, a wing-back for the Italian national team.
Despite being a first-team regular with the Serie A high flyers his club have not offered him a new contract even though his current one is rapidly running down.
Maggio’s agent Massimo Briaschi does not seem happy with the contract situation and recently commented: “A marriage takes two, but we are still waiting to meet Napoli. It is normal that a player like him attracts interest from other clubs. He’s a professional sportsman and this is the secret of his continued performance.”
The Italian earns €950,000 per year, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport and creates a lot of assists and chips in with some good goals but one issue could be his age – He is currently 29-years-old and could be too close to 30 for AVB who has shown he likes bringing in younger players.
