United coach writes off Blues’ chances

Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen say the Chelsea’s squad is “too old” to compete with Sir Alex’s side in the Premier League this season.
The coach feels that their local rivals Manchester City and new-look Liverpool side also will not be able to keep up with their young stars as they look to win their 20th title.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  He told the Daily Star:
“We are not afraid of anyone at all.
“City have made very good signings, but we have something they don’t possess. We know what it takes to win trophies.
“City are still a big rival. But Arsenal have gone backwards, Liverpool are still in a stage of rebuilding and Chelsea have just made one major signing in Juan Mata.
“Besides, Chelsea’s squad is too old, and their tempo is not high enough to win the Premier League.”
These are fighting words from Rene Meulensteen, ones that AVB will hopefully use to inspire the team when the two side meet later this month.

  1. this coach is very short sighted and has an extremely short memory. as a chelsea fan i am not fazed by his comments. chelsea started the same way last season and ended up not winning the league. just because they managed to score a few goals against some shaky defences he is thinking manure united is awesome. wait till u meet a team that's playing well. but again i understand him. he is probably in shock after defeating an “unknown arsenal for 8”. lest he forget that arsenal is having its own problems and so did spurs. to be quite honest his team has not met some tough challenge so far. he should look at how they struggled against WBA. i really think this coach should only start talking after facing some competition. the season is still young and we dont have 36 year olds in our squad. if van der saar was 41 and scholes, and gary neville were old but manure still managed to win the league, what can stop 33 year olds from winning the same title. m really worried about this guy's footbal acumen.
