Sturridge was never going to leave …

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has said that he had no plans to let Daniel Sturridge go out on loan again this season.

Villas-Boas entrusted Sturridge to start his first game of the season on Saturday after his suspension, and the English youngster repaid that faith when he scored the second goal of the game with a cheeky back-heel past Simon Mignolet.

Even though there was a lot of summer speculation about whether Sturridge would move on loan after having an impressive spell with Bolton last season AVB had no intention of letting him go anywhere this time round.

Villas-Boas said: “We had a lot of teams calling Daniel to take him on loan during the transfer window but it was never going to happen, the technical staff and I all had the feeling we should bring him in. We have an outstanding player.”

During the game Sturridge played on the wing as a part of a three pronged forward line, a position where he impressed. After being a bit-part player at the Bridge, it looks like the player will get a lot more game time for the Blues.
