With Chelsea’s first Carling Cup match of the season creeping upon them, preparation is in order for Andre Villas-Boas’ men to get the Manchester United result out of their system and build upon their impressive display.
Their opponents and rivals Fulham are in high spirits following their comeback over the blue half of Manchester, but with Chelsea’s arguably comfortable home fixture against Swansea City on Saturday, I still think AVB will leave out a few stars. This would be the team I would start at home to Fulham on Wednesday evening:
Formation: 4-3-3
Goalkeeper: #40 Henrique Hilario
Wing backs: #19 Paulo Ferreira (RB), #3 Ashley Cole
Centre backs: #26 John Terry (C), #4 David Luiz
Central midfield: #12 John Obi Mikel, #6 Oriol Romeu, #20 Josh McEachran
Attacking midfield: #15 Florent Malouda, #21 Salomon Kalou
Striker: #18 Romelu Lukaku
SUBS
GK: #22 Ross Turnbull
DF: #33 Alex, #34 Ryan Bertrand
MF: #7 Ramires, #8 Frank Lampard
ST: #23 Daniel Sturridge, #39 Nicolas Anelka
REST (featured against Man.Utd)
Petr Cech, Jose Bosingwa, Branislav Ivanovic, Raul Meireles, Juan Mata, Fernando Torres.
