Chelsea stance on veteran star’s contract renewal revealed

Chelsea want to offer a new contract to Thiago Silva
Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea are willing to keep Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge for at least one more year by extending his contract.
The Blues defender was signed on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer after he led his team to the UEFA Champions League final. He was initially offered a one-year deal at the club.
But that contract contains a clause whereby it can be extended by one more year. And, Chelsea are willing to activate it after the 36-year-old has impressed so far this season.
The talks are yet to begin but the club wants to open discussion with the player and his agent. Silva has appeared in 21 games for Chelsea in all competitions so far.
One more year for Silva?
The Brazil international has also held the captain’s armband on several occasions for the club. He is currently nursing an injury and would hence miss the game against Manchester United this Sunday.
Silva’s experience and leadership is visible on the pitch, and Chelsea look a far more secure side with him in the line-up. Chelsea have kept 9 league clean sheets out of the 17 games he has played in so far.

This is in stark contrast to the 2 clean sheets they have kept in the 8 Premier League games without him. It is, thus, no surprise that the club would want him to stay for a little longer. (h/t transfermarkt)
Silva has won trophies everywhere he has played and his winning mentality is just what the doctor would order for Chelsea. The veteran defender is still the captain of his international team, which shows his longevity.

Crucial detail about rumours linking Chelsea star to Bundesliga giants revealed

Transfer rumours linked Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic to Bayern Munich
Bild‘s Bundesliga journalist, Christian Falk (h/t AS English), has stated that rumours linking Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic with a transfer to Bayern Munich are false.
Earlier this month, TodoFichajes (h/t The Sun) mentioned that Bayern have contacted the Blues over the availability of the American wide-man. They reportedly wanted him as a replacement for Kingsley Coman.
But those links regarding a summer transfer to the Bundesliga club have now been quashed. Pulisic joined Chelsea in the summer of 2019 despite agreeing a deal in January itself.
The 22-year-old won over the trust of Frank Lampard as he featured in 34 matches for the club in his first full season. He also took over the number 10 shirt that was left vacant by the departure of Eden Hazard that year.
A change of system
The story has been different this season. Injuries have not let the former Borussia Dortmund rake in a lot of appearances, but he has seemed to feature whenever available.
After featuring for new manager Thomas Tuchel in his first 3 league games in charge, he has not featured for a single minute in the following 3 matches in the Premier League. (h/t transfermarkt)

Chelsea have a plethora of wingers. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech, and even Timo Werner are all capable of playing on the wings. But his lack of minutes in the past few league games can be explained by Chelsea’s system.
Tuchel has largely employed a 3-4-2-1 formation whereby the full-backs double up as Chelsea wide-men. Pulisic, being a natural winger, would not be a direct fit on paper for the squad.

And for that reason, he has been played in 3 different positions in Tuchel’s first 3 league games at the helm. But that does not necessarily mean that there is no future for him at the club.

Transfer boost as Chelsea can sign impressive England international in £88m deal

Chelsea can seal the deal Jadon Sancho for £88m
According to Mirror (h/t Football.london), Chelsea can look to sign Jadon Sancho in a cut-price deal next season. Subtle hints have come from Borussia Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke that the star forward could be allowed to leave.
With the effects of the pandemic still being felt by most clubs across Europe, Watzke has spoken about how he intends to keep the club and its financial state in balance.

“In the midst of a pandemic, I no longer rule anything out. But it is not necessarily aspired to. Above all, there is the financial balance: that we have a strong team on the field and are economically stable at the same time. Asking banks for credit lines at the drop of a hat just to avoid selling a player will not be our way.”
Due to cost-cutting measures, it is being said that the German club could accept a transfer fee of around £88m. Despite Manchester United being constantly linked to the youngster, Chelsea could steal a march on their rivals.

Transfer News: Chelsea to battle Man United for 16-year-old wonderkid

Chelsea to battle Manchester United for wonderkid Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty
According to Tuttosport (h/t The Sun), Chelsea could find themselves in a transfer battle for wonderkid Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty. Along with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Juventus are also said to be highly interested in signing the 16-year-old.
A highly-rated teenager, he is held in high regard in his native county. He currently plies his trade for Toronto FC and has managed to attract the attention of elite European clubs such as the names mentioned above.

While 16 might be too young of an age for Marshall-Rutty to be making an instant impact at a side like Chelsea who are filled with star names, nonetheless, he can be a good fit for their flourishing academy and then in the first-team in due time.
The Blues have given chances to academy players in recent seasons to make a mark in the first-team. Mason Mount has made himself an indispensable asset for the club while Tammy Abraham has also impressed. The likes of Billy Gilmour are also waiting in the wings to make a mark.
