Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga at risk with Everton star Jordan Pickford and two others on Chelsea radar
Chelsea shot-stoppers Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga are at risk of losing their place at the club, with Everton star Jordan Pickford on the Blues’ radar, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on Twitter (h/t Express).
The England international is not the only one being looked at. Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and Brentford’s David Raya are also being eyed by the Stamford Bridge side.
Graham Potter’s team admire the three shot-stoppers. Come the summer, the West London club will evaluate their situation in between the sticks.
As a result, Mendy and Kepa’s futures are uncertain. Who Chelsea’s shot-stoppers will be next summer will also depend on whether either the Senegalese or Spain international are content with being the second choice for the long term.
The Blues signed Kepa from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018. However, after a couple of underwhelming seasons, the 28-year-old lost his place in the starting lineup.
For the 2020/21 campaign, the Blues brought Mendy from Stade Rennais. In his debut season, the 30-year-old lifted the Champions League trophy and was pivotal in our run to the prestigious silverware.
The Senegalese also lifted the Africa Cup of Nations with the Lions of Teranga in 2022. However, subsequently, his form started to dip. Subsequently, the shot-stopper was displaced by Kepa in the team this season.
Everton are currently struggling in the Premier League. However, Pickford has still shown his qualities. The 28-year-old also shone for England at the 2022 World Cup. On the other hand, Sanchez and Raya are thriving with their respective clubs as well.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see what our goalkeeping situation will be like in the upcoming campaign. However, most fans have lost faith in both Mendy and Kepa. Thus, a new quality shot-stopper seems necessary.
