Chelsea star Kenedy has revealed why he plays with short length socks. The Brazilian is on loan at Newcastle and was speaking to FourFourTwo (h/t Football.london), claiming the socks were more comfortable.
“I like them! It’s as if I’m wearing normal socks, you know?
“They make me feel lighter and are so comfortable. On the pitch, I almost feel like I’m levitating.”
The Brazilian added that some of his teammates couldn’t believe that he sports such socks. The 22-year-old further spoke about the fear of injuries and how Rafa Benitez reacts to the socks.
“I do worry about injuries, but I wouldn’t say it’s more dangerous because of my tiny socks.
“Rafa (Benitez) has never said anything about that – he just looks at the socks and laughs.”
Kenedy spent last season on loan with the Magpies and returned for a second stint this time around. The midfielder spoke about his future at Chelsea but claimed he was happy at Tyneside.
“As for the future, I have a contract at Chelsea and it would be nice to get another opportunity there, but for now I prefer to enjoy the moment.
“I’m happy at Newcastle and can only promise to give my best here.”
The Brazilian needs a quality season before he can think of making an impact next season. The 22-year-old isn’t the most consistent player but if he works on this aspect, he might have a future at the Blues.
