Not Hazard – Barcelona plotting winter window move for 27-year-old Chelsea star

N'Golo Kante

Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea star N’Golo Kante in the January window, according to Sport Mediaset (h/t Express).

The French midfielder was subject to stern interest from Paris Saint-Germain after he won the World Cup with his national team (h/t Express).

But Chelsea managed to keep hold of him and new manager Maurizio Sarri has overseen the player do well in a slightly advanced midfield role.

The report further claims that PSG will return for the player in January.

The 27-year-old was asked about a potential move to the French capital and he was quoted by Express saying:

“There was some contact with PSG, yes.

“However, after a discussion with the club, I realised that the main thing for me was to feel good where I was then and am now.

“I am with Chelsea – staying with Chelsea is good for me.”

The Blues have started the season well and are undefeated in the Premier League with five wins and a draw.

The 27-year-old is one of the best in the world and losing him in the winter window would be a blow. Not only would it affect Sarri’s plans for the season, but it would also be difficult to get someone of a similar capacity.
