AC Milan eyeing winter move for £27m Chelsea midfielder

Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas is a target for Italian giants AC Milan in the January window, as per the Mirror. The report states that the 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of this season and Milan want to take advantage of this situation.

The Spaniard is yet to feature for our team in the Premier League this season but he did play in the Community Shield loss against Manchester City.

Fabregas will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs in January since his contract runs out next summer and the report claims the Spaniard is unlikely to receive a new deal to stay at the club. Chelsea must him in the winter window to ensure they do not lose him on a free transfer.

Fabregas will face stern competition for a place in the midfield, with new signing Jorginho starting the season in an impressive manner.

N’Golo Kante is getting used to his more advanced role while we have Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek fighting for a spot in the starting XI.

Moving to the Serie A would not be the worst deal for Fabregas, given that the pace in the Italian league is a tad slower when compared to the Premier League.

However, keeping him in the side also makes sense due to his passing range, ability to split defences and his experience of winning big games.

The 31-year-old might receive starts in a few games before the winter window, thanks to our Europa League exploits. However, if Maurizio Sarri wants to sell him, it should be done in January.
