The Daily Star claims that Eden Hazard was linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer. However, Zinedine Zidane’s departure and Chelsea’s stronghold of their star ensured the Belgian remained a Blue, as per the report.
Roberto Martinez believes this isn’t “bad news” for Hazard as the Belgium manager was quoted by the Daily Star. He also added that the Chelsea man will perform this season.
“It is not bad news that he has stayed in England. When Real wants to sign you, you can tell yourself, ‘This is the chance of a lifetime’.
“But Eden did not see it that way. Chelsea had Sarri come in and I understand that the club did not want to lose its best player.
“It is logical he is a wanted man. Eden is a good lad. He accepted the position and will perform this season.”
The former Everton and Wigan manager believed that working under Maurizio Sarri would be “good” for the Belgian.
“I saw Chelsea’s third goal against Arsenal and I knew enough. After such a World Cup, it was certainly a good time for Eden Hazard to take up a new challenge.
“Sarri’s arrival is good for Eden. He is ready for the new challenge and the new manager at Chelsea.”
Hazard was brilliant in his cameo against Arsenal and he also scored his first goal of the season in our win over Newcastle United.
We are currently sitting atop the table with nine points from three games. The Blues are still a work in progress under Sarri but if Hazard gets the bit between his teeth, we could end up with a trophy under the Italian manager.
