Maurizio Sarri is planning to make Eden Hazard the captain of Chelsea this season as the Italian tries to keep the Belgian at Stamford Bridge, according to the Mirror.
Hazard has been linked with a huge move to Real Madrid as they look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the club.
The report claims that the Blues are trying their best to keep hold of the 27-year-old who had an excellent World Cup with Belgium. The club believes that making him the captain would also ensure he signs a new contract to stay in London for longer.
Hazard was possibly the best player in the World Cup as Belgium finished third but had spoken about moving away from Chelsea after six years at the club. The Belgian did pick up the FA Cup last season but not playing in the Champions League is a big blow to our plans for the summer.
If we are to sell Hazard, we are looking at a fee of £180million. However, it would be extremely difficult to replace someone like the Belgian even if we get a mammoth transfer sum.
Hazard is an important member of the side and handing him the captain’s armband could be a smart move to prove that he is really needed at the club.

There are other players such as Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta as well, who are in the running for the captaincy but Hazard is integral to the side and it makes sense since he is captain of Belgium as well. If he does leave, we will certainly have a huge problem in our attempts at making it back to the top-4.
