Chelsea are looking to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio after announcing Maurizio Sarri as the new manager, according to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Express).
The Serbian was one of the stars for Lazio last season and had a decent World Cup too. One club who have been linked with the 23-year-old is Manchester United but it seems we are willing to offer a player plus cash deal to land Milinkovic-Savic.
While Lazio are looking for close to £115m for the highly-rated midfielder, we are prepared to send Cesc Fabregas in the other direction to ensure we land the star player.
There are a couple of other giants of football interested in the Serbian with Real Madrid and Barcelona also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic is someone who can be a huge influence for us should we sign the 23-year-old from Lazio. The Italian side will know that they have a lot of suitors for the midfielder and can use that to their advantage by raising his price.
Our reported plan of sending a player in swap for the Serbian does seem like a logical one and with Fabregas being one player that could leave, we would free up our wage bill too.
We have signed Jorginho already and if we can land Milinkovic-Savic, we could have an incredible midfield trio this season.

Milinkovic-Savic would obviously be a bit of a risk since he has never played English football but if anyone knows about players from the Serie A, it has to be Sarri.
