Gianfranco Zola gives insight into impending Maurizio Sarri appointment

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has spoken out about Maurizio Sarri taking over at the club as the former striker is also expected to have a role in the new management setup at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian was one of the best to have ever played at the club and he did claim that a lot of talks are going on regarding Sarri.

Zola was quoted by Sky Italia (h/t Daily Star) as saying:

“There are many teams who would like a Coach like Sarri.

“I think the parties are working on it, but I don’t know anything more.”

Zola also added that Conte did a great job and hoped that Sarri would be given more control over the club’s workings as that would lead to greater success.

“If Sarri were to go to Chelsea I hope he’s allowed to work as he wants, because that’s how he can improve teams.

“It’s definitely a different challenge, Chelsea is a new situation. I hope Maurizio will get the chance to do top work.”

The striker is experienced when it comes to working in England and has served spells at Birmingham, West Ham and Watford. Hence, he would know his way about in the Premier League.

It would be great to have someone like Zola back in the side as he knows what the club’s fans want and how they would respond to the new manager coming in.
